I say go with the obvious. What holds most cars from going really fast? Weight..Try going with fiberglass pieces for the front clip. Then use aluminum heads,pistons,rods,etc. Pull the heater. Rip out the seats. Aluminum wheels and aluminum disc brakes. Lightweight racing seat. Tear out the carpet. Don't forget the..you guessed it.. aluminum radiator. Personally.. I think you could turbo-charge one of them Aussie headed I6's and get into the 10's. Maybe, I dunno. But like some have stated. A good 351W stroked out to 400 or so would be your best bang for the buck. Still reasonably lightweight and heaps of power. Also I know factory Ford guys. The Cobra engine is awesome but way out your budget with the mods you'll need.
