will fit with no problem at all, if you do decide to rebuild it, just buy a 302 crank, rod, piston kit and make it a 302. C-4 is what the 289 came with. Oilpan and timing cover will work fine. Water pump is the old style with matching pointer on timing cover, it also uses the three bolt damper. Non are a problem, just use the newer style waterpump to go with your raditor. Timing pointer will be a little tough to get to, but possible. There is one difference between the 289/302 blocks. Piston skirts on the 302 are deeper which helps to eliminate piston slap after mileage. Had a 66 stang that it happened on. Still a good block though

: i have a line on a 289 and possibly the attached tranny (im not sure if its auto or manual) that was pulled out of a '67 mustang. it ran when they pulled it a couple of years ago. should i go look at it? i have a decent sized shed in the back of my new place im thinking about tinkering with an engine in. if i got it, how hard would it be to drop into a mav? can i attach a C4 to it without too much work? i know one of you guys have done this before. thanks for your help!!!
