I've got a 71 comet with a non power master cylinder from autozone and now that you mention it i do have some pedal travel. I have to pump twice if i really want to stop fast.
The cylinder had only been on a year when it started it's been two now and i haven't gotten around to fiddling with it [i have five cars inc the wife's saturn]. I had just figured it was because i didn't have the pedal spacer installed [that extra piece that comes with the cylinder] and thought that maybe the brakes weren't bled properly and needed bleeding again. It could be that the master cylinder just sucks!
