Hi all,
I am putting in a rebuilt 1990 5.0 and I had a couple questions about the swap. What power steering hoses will fit the serpentine pump, and also bolt to the Maverick cylinder underneath? Also will the 5.0 starter work with this engine when I change the flexplate to the 50 oz inbalence so it works with my C4? I am going to change it back to carboration, so I don't need to worry about the computer/electronics. Also what is the best place to mount an electric fuel pump? Anything else I should know about? Will the clutch fan fit? Thanks for all and every piece of information. ......................................... ....There are at least two soueces for the special flex plate you need. Ford motor sports and B&M. It need to be 157 starter teeth, be 50 oz and have the c4 bolt hole spacing. ....I feel that the pump should be mounted back by the tank and plumbed with alum. 5/16 line and filter. ....Often there is an unstable pressure at the carb using a single dead headed feed line to a regulator then to the carb. ....Put it in this way and set the regulator to about 5 or 6 lbs. ....If there is a problem then run a small return line back to the tank with a restriction to keep the pump from pumping against the regulator and shuting off and cycling in a large pressure fluction that would be seen on a pressure gauge. Some pumps plumbed this way over heat and lose pressure because they need passing fuel to keep them cool. Many get away with the simple single pipe without a problem or at least there not awhere of it. ....The clutch fan should fit ok. ....As for the power steering pump issue, I would look into getting custom hoses made locally or maybe some one has solved this issue already.. |
