Probably your coil is bad. It requires very little power to idle, then when you up the rpms more, the power required isn't there. Your fuel filter will fill the carb bowl up at idle because you need very little fuel and work for a few seconds then die out as the bowl in't refilled.

The mav is acting up, it is a 1970 I6 200. The car is bone stock except for a K&N air filter. When I was driving it the other day it died, not violently or anything, just stopped running, I was able to start it back up every time but if I tried to give it any gas it would just die again. I was able to baby it home after many many tries. The car idles in park great, but doesn't like to be revved. Usually dies if you rev it much higher than idle in park. I am going to change the points and the condenser (They are about due) but if that is not it does anyone have any idea's. A couple days ago, before the mav started acting up, I sprayed some carb cleaner down the carb, is it a possiblilty that the cleaner ate some rubber part and screwed it up?
Thanks,
RudyD
