Joe,
I'm in the process of the same swap for a bracket car. Then engine itself fits fine, but the header situation is a major PITA! AutoKrafters makes a set ($350+), but they're only 1 1/2" diameter, meaning that if you plan on making any power at all, other than a halfway stock engine, you'll be building headers. That is what I had to do, make my own. Even notching the towers didnt help much, although plug changes will be much easier now than if I hadn't notched them. I'm also using a powerglide trans, and the pan is too wide for a header to fit between the pan and tunnel. My headers exit at a 45 degree angle outward to the side of the car, and make trans swaps easy cause you wont have to take the headers loose. From what I can see, I dont think any sort of stock manifold will fit either, there's simply not enough room between the head and tower, unless you raise the engine about 2". Also, the distributor on our car will be very close to the hood, but I think a stock Duraspark dizzy would be shorter and have no clearance problems. It all boils down to how much power you're going to make, and how much $$ you want to spend. Pesonally on a street driven car, I'd stick with a 302 or a 347 stroker--they can be built to make plenty of streetable power, enough to surprise most unweary mustangs and camaros.
