First thing I always look at is their age. Remember you're working on a car that is older then most of them. They're computer geeks and most don't have any idea how to "look it up in the book"
Also the stores have gone to generic parts suppliers. Increases the profit margin. I also know that along the border between USA and Mexico they use people from over the border to pull certain parts, Carbs, Alts, PS Pumps, Dist. from junkyard cars, clean them up, box them and send them to the USA for parts stores to sell.
