I have seen threats like this multiple times over the last few years. There are always a few crazy ones out there that go over the deep end. Once you begin to really think about the consequences of such an act, you will realize that it is impossible. 1. How many poor people still rely on these cars for transportation, and could not afford to buy a new one.
2. How many of these legislators have an older hotrod/classic in their garage--Probably many.
3. There are way too many people with older cars to let this happen.
Do not fear this, for I have seen this threat many times. The old cars aren't doing to bad. We seem to be making progress. In california just a couple of years ago, everything 73 and older became smog exempt. Rest assured, our cars will be here for ever.
