what aftermarket heads should i put on a 1974 comet 302 it is 8.1:1 ......................... There are no heads on the market that will take your engine beyond about 9 to 1. You may find that hard to believe. The 73 block is set up with the pistons down in the bore and dished yet.. You need to replace them with flat tops and have the block decked to get the piston up to deck level unless you can find pistons that have the required crown height to take up the space. The engine will not pump more than 500 cfm at 6000 rpm so no point in using a 750 carb on the street.
