My mav has been sitting for some time, and I had my fuel pump go out on my like that, would just pump a little. Do check that sending unit in the tank. I worked on a 67 mustang for a while, and the car would run fine till you hit the freeway, about half a mile on the freeway, the car would stall. After much much troubleshooting, I found that the screen at the end of the pickup from the sending unit in the tank had fallen off the sending unit into the tank, and was being sucked up by the sending unit, clogging the sending unit.
