If a maverick drives itself into the woods and blows the horn, does it make a sound?

Elizabeth,

That would depend on several things...

What was the speed of the hapless Maverick when it went into the woods? Did it see a bear on the way in? Hit a tree? Run over any local wildlife?

If the Maverick itself blew the horn then I would suspect either a wiring fault (bad horn relay) or a crappy job putting in the Grant steering wheel causing the horn button to short out (had this happen to me!). Or something more sinister...

But, and I open this for discussion, WHY did the Maverick blow its horn? Was it a nice car that wanted to alert the local animal population that they were in danger? Or was it the mean, rust-eaten, bleating cousin of "Christine" that was out on a vengeful mission to eradicate the woods of the aforementioned bear? (and possibly some trees as well).

I further submit that perhaps the poor Maverick overheard its owner talking about trading it in on a Mustang? Or maybe that same cold, heartless, good-for-nothing former GM driver put some Maralyn Manson in the CD player and it couldn't take it anymore? HHmmmmm?? Would'nt YOU run into the woods bleeping your horn (screaming?).

I know this sounds weird, but my normally docile '76 Maverick "Pegasus" got really mad at my nephew for playing SlipKnot CD one too many times and promptly jumped off the jackstands when my nephew pulled the driveshaft out of the tranny trying to crush him! Cooincidence? Hhhmmm??? I think Not! Wouldn't you try and crush the little bugger for playing that garbage too? Regardless, as my nephew scrambled out from under the car, the jolt of falling off the jackstands was enough to keep that God-awful SlipKnot CD from ever working again although it plays Boston's "Don't Look Back" just fine!

Ladies and Gentlemen of the Royal House of Maverick & Comets, I submit to you that you should treat your Maverick well, don't threaten to trade in, crush or put in a 170cid engine lest the same thing happen to YOU!

If you wake up at 2am one morning to hear the faint bleating of your Mavericks horn in the woods far away, go quitely back to sleep and be afraid, be very afraid...
