Jimbob,

When you put the timing chain on did you verify that the marks on the cam sprocket and the crank sprocket were pointing towards each other (stabbed "straight up")

This doesn't sound like a valve timing issue but rather ignition timing. When you installed the distributor did you chack to see if the rotor was pointed at the #1 tower plug on the cap? Also, double-check your plug wires. If they are routed wrong the car will act the same way. Get out that timing light!

what my car seems to do is not start at all, in fact i just changed the head gasket and recently rebuilt the engine( except the timing chain)but now i can get it to run except for just a second literally.
