It really depends on what you're getting for your money. I managed a Midas Muffler & Brake Shop a few years ago and had several jobs of that size...and that was 13 years ago. What all are they saying needs to be replaced? If they are just replacing shoes, turning drums, and rebuilding your wheel cylinders, I think it's a bit high. Most places like that are trained to do a little overkill so I would imagine they are trying to sell you spring kits, new cylinders, master cylinder, shoes, flush system, and turn the drums. You will not likely get new drums with that price. What we don't know here is whether or not you really need all that stuff. If you know a TRULY good back-yard mechanic, you can probably get them done for half the price...or less.
The price you got on the radiator is not bad at all. A new radiator is a very good investment.
Good luck,
Ray

I have a 71' maverick, with a 200 6 cylinder. I had the brakes inspected at les schwab a few weeks ago and he told me that they essentially were shot. Everything needs to be replaced, shoes, drums, and cylinders. He gave me a qoute of $626.33. Does this sound right? I got some qoutes from other places but they were all at least $300.00 higher.
Next question: I need to put in a new radiator. What should I expect to pay for a new one? 911 radiators has one for $140.00.
Thanks in advance for any help/advice.
