I have heard of 351 Windsor and 351 Cleveland but I have never heard of a M before? I'm still learning so bear with me. 351 windsor is the mild one and 351 Cleveland is the wild one, right? Where does the M fall in?

a 351 M is a mild/modest piece of crap. its ok for a truck, marine, or a family wagon. but its not a highly prized engine in any application.
a 351M is essentially a slightly enlarged, but way smogged down, "Cleveland".
it is also taller and heavier than a C.
although in the same engine family as a cleveland... there never was a single high performace application of this motor. (not even a 4V option)
although in appearance it looks like a cleveland...
its "hit or miss" when it comes to interchangeablitly between the 2.
although they use the same heads... intake manifolds wont swap. transmissions are not interchangable either.
lotsa things like that.
the 351M is not worthy of a lot of discussion. but since someone asked... i thought id try to enlighten, somewhat.
dont even consider trying to wedge this boat anchor into your maverick.
