:=:=i,ve got a 71 maverick,351w, that i use for drag race only. runs mid 13's in street class. has anyone that races had any problems with them removed. sure looks a lot cleaner and easier to get to a lot of areas. thanks
:=
:=When I bought my 74 Comet, the braces were not in it. I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary, because they were never there. I went to a junkyard and got a set to install. Once I installed them, I knew they were there for a reason.:-) The handling improved ALOT once they were in. They were put in to support the frame and stop the car from flexing during hard cornering, and to keep the shock towers in place.
:= I just figured I needed an alignment, because the tires would squeal when I turned corners:-)

Don, most all the small Ford cars of simular design have the support braces being of unibody design. The squeal upon turning a corner usaully means the toein is way out because as the wheels are turned each side turns a different amount to keep the wheels in there own circle of travel.
ken, the last 2 posts were not from me, but thanks everyone for the replies. this morning i ordered the export brace from mpg that fred spoke of. i'll let everyone know how it goes. sure looks like it is what i want. thanks again
