I am certain that a reburbish will cost more than the car is worth even though it is in excellent condition [65,000 original miles when purchased last year,like new interior, plastic wrapping still on the seat belts, $350]. I'll probably do something custom with the emblem like black it out or place a light behind it so it glows. I also may try different types of merc emblems like the new round ones [which i don't like but you gotta work with what you can get] or ones off other old mercurys from the '60's or 70's.
