 i have a 73 maverick with a 302. i just hade the motor rebulit but it wont start. the most i can get it to do is throw flames/smoke out of the carb i removed the timimng cover but the timing marks line up? can anyone help?

Double check that you have the spark plug wires correctly installed.
I dont know the firing order of a 302 off the top of my head but it sounds to me like you have the wires mixed up.
Also make sure that with number 1 cylinder at top dead center of its compression stroke that the rotor in the distributor is pointing to the number 1 plug wire terminal of the distributor cap.
Sounds to me like your plugs are firing out of sequence causing the fire and smoke you explain coming out of your carb.
