Do you still have the car? Does it run? How much do you expect I need to put into to get it back in strong condition?

I'm down in San Diego Area and am very interested.

Thanks for your time.

Yes, I still have the car. It currently runs and the amount you need to spend on getting it back to strong condition depends on you. A rebuild kit for a 302 is pretty cheap. PAW has a 302 rebuild kit that includes everything to rebuild the short block(crank & rods etc.) $512 and balancing + pressing rods is $120 extra but is strongly recommended due to it being the best price I have ever seen and reliability goes up dramatically with the balancing; HP also increases slightly. Or if you don't want to have the original block machined(for whatever reason, maybe removes rebore, mag guesswork + cam bearings freeze plugs etc.), PAW also has a short block kit(includes a reconditioned block, no stress now) fully balanced for $1100 which also requires assembly. You could opt for their complete long block kit for $1600 which comes with top of the line new parts. It is really up to you and your mechanical abilities and desires.

I would also suggest getting new shock, brakes for the car as well as some interior work(headliner, carpet, etc.). It does, however, have good tires.

My guess? If your can do all the work yourself, a total of $1900-2500 would get this car in excellent condition which includes engine(price range depends on which route you take on rebuild), brakes, shocks, interior, and the price of the car. Possibly a cheap paint job could fit in depending on how desperate you are.

If you want to pursue any further, I will include exact parts list+pricing of engine parts.
