If your tank is bad, let me know and I can send you an E-mail I got on how to use a Mustang gas tank as a replacement. It's cheap and easy and moves the sending unit to the front middle so you can run dual exhausts, if you want. You can also go up to the 22 gal tank from the 70 Mustang with a minimum of work.
