The reason some list not for C-4/C-6s is the shift linkage is on the columun. Floor shifters usually don't have much trouble.
You can use any header that fits a C-4 in early vehicles. Hooker is probably going to have the size you'll need with that much HP.
And for the record, I used Hedman on my 302/AOD floor shifter. Trans pan is wider and mighty close.

I recently purchased a 1970 Maverick. It is currently has no motor, but it does have a C4 tranny and has the V8 motor supports (I was told 'someone' put a 289 in it long ago).

I have an AOD that has been upgraded to suport 700 h.p. 1st through 3rd gear with a manually controlled electronic overdrive (nice for highway). I have used this in a '90 Convertible (heaviest of all stangs) and have been VERY pleased with it while running 7.2 in the 1/8 mile (1.5 60').

The enginne I am putting in it is a 347 C.I. (bored and stroked 5.0). With a 200 shot of nitrous, I intend to put out around 600 h.p. (as I wrote this I remembered again that the Maverick weighs 2500 lbs. - can't wait)

I've looked at Jegs and Summit for headers that will fit the swap, however I am unclear on which type to get. I look for all the 302 styles but I see many that say "NOT FOR C6 Automatic" or "C4 ONLY", etc.

I wonder, does this apply to the 1990 AOD as well?

If anyone has done this swap, or knows of someone who has, I'd appreciate the help (see my up-coming EFI post - I want to stay with EFI using a F.A.S.T. ECU ("formerly SpeedPro" and "FelPro" also).

Great board, Guys. I look forward to stopping by often.
