There is a 9 3/8" ring gear but you'd have to hunt to find one. I think you might be thinking of the different housings, small or large axle bearings, and then there is different case center sections, also with three different bearing sizes. Most cases a run of the mill 9" center section is more then strong enough. Use ARP ring gear bolts, Currie carrier bearing studs and their solid pinion center slims. The crush ring isn't that great and was mainly for mass production.


I am going with new gear in my ford 9 inch. My question is: I believe there are 3 different 9 inches through the years. (correct me if I am wrong) Different styles or something. I read a magazine once and I have the 2nd one to come out. Anyway if I order gears for it does it matter which one I have or are they all the same? Like I said earlier I may be confused so someone correct me if I am wrong.
