4.56 gears is not the right gear for my car in the 1/8th mile. I have done some research and figuring on the old puter and 4.88 gears should be what I need in the 1/8th. When you go through the traps at the end of the track you should be at your shift RPM. With the gear I have now I am about 600 rpm short of that. Does your car run through the traps at shift rpm's? I "had"(broke it somehow) a puter progpam where you could build engine and car combo and it would tell you horsepower, ft. pd. torque. And it would give you projected 1/8th and 1/4 mile times and speeds. I build mine and it was within .03 of my best time. So I played around with some combo's and with my set-up I have now with the 4.88's it projected it to run 7.30's in the 1/8th. Thats why I am changing gears.
