On my 74 mav. im am having problems with my column shifting linkage. There is a rod of some sort that is under neath the gear box that rest in the block that is used for the shifter. It looks like i have to move the bolck over for it to fit in. Taking in consideration that i just pulled the 250 and c4 tranny, i made sure they are mounted correctly which they are. I am wondering if any of you know how to fix this problem to where the rod will sit in the block. but i am also considering a floor shifter, im just not sure whcih is quicker to do. I would like to keep the coloumn there thouhg. I apprieciate your help.

I'm not sure I understand what rod you are talking about. Could be the steering column to trans lock rod. This rod is used as a safty to keep the trans from slipping out of park and the car rolling if the emg. brake is not on.
