and keeping things original, i have found that the radio console from an 86 through early 90's Mazda B2000 series pickup
radio console fits exactly underneath the dash on the transmission hump of my 71 comet. Looks factory and cool! I was able to keep my original AM radio in the dash! If you make a carpet cover for the console it will match the interior and hide new radio from would-be theives. It fits because the factory radio in the mazda is mounted in the console which sits on the transmission hump of the truck. I highly recommend it!
