All original would mean that the car is exactly as it was the first day it was new. Now that can mean as it arrived from the factory, after if was dealer prepped, and other defintions others have come up with...but to me it can be any of those things. #'s matching means that all the date codes match up to the day the car was built. Date codes are on carbs, doors, fenders, trunk lids, quarters, and many, many parts. It also means that the VIN is stamped in the engine block, and it matches the VIN of the car.

I would say if you change the motor from a 6 cyl to a V-8, it would no longer be all original.

As far as Mavericks are concerned, there are only a small handfull of Mavericks I would consider keeping all original...and that would be a Stallion or a Sprint. (Even though I know of highly modified versions of both of those cars). Also, any Maverick that was in exceptional original condition would also be worth of staying all original. The 1972 Grabber I am restoring/restomodding was in real good condition body wise, but the interior and drivetrain were shot. A car like this is not worthy of the expense of trying to put it back original...a lot easier to modify a car like that. On the flip side, I went and looked at this all origianl 1974 Maverick Grabber. It has 20,000 actual miles, and only 2000 miles since 1978. It still had the original tires, belts, hoses, spark plugs, spark wires and more. It was in an unbelievable excellent condition. THIS CAR I WOULD KEEP ALL ORIGINAL. Hope this helps.

What does that really mean. I have been playing around with hot rods for a while, but I have never went with all original. I here people say "#'s matching" what does that mean? Thinking about restoring the 75 back to all original. But not sure. I want a V-8. If I found a original Mav. small block would that still fall under the all original? Someone please shine some light on this subject for me. Thanks.
