Ford in dash tachometer.

    I have one. I need to know which connection in the back of the tach goes to what.
    I have "C", "8", "G" and "B".

    It is a full size 80s Ford Bronco tachometer.
    Part number EOTF-17360-Y on the back and EOTF-17B316-A on the front.

    "C" is to this ignition coil, "8" is the secondary ground for an 8 cyl engine, "G" is the primary ground, and "B" is the 12V power supply -connects to a "hot in run" 12v source.

    Erm...Blugene was correct. One was for the coil, I agreed and confirmed his reply with information I found on the Interwebz. A collaborative effort if you will.

    However, the tach doesn't work when wired this way. Irritating.

    Dam. And you did go to the "+" side of the coil? Also, when I wired mt tach (wayback), I had to find a GOOD ground.

    So I ran
    "C" directly to the negative on the coil.
    "8" to a bolt on the radiator support.
    "G" to a bolt on the radiator support.
    "B" to the positive on my battery.

    Turn on the engine------nothing. I have been shocked a dozen or more times so I KNOW the coil wire is good. The grounds seem solid and the 12v is good soooooo.....? Bad tach?

    I could be wrong but I thought the "+" side was what you needed. Otherwise it looks like you did it right. Might want to use a switched battery source if it comes to life.

    I just want my $50 shipped to work. It appears to be unused. I wonder if I have killed it by wiring it in wrong. It worked for a minute and after I put the whole dash back together it stopped working. Made me mad because Ford clusters are a pain to reach behind.

    So it WAS working...? Check for loose connections.
