why not just buy a silverado 2500 or 3500HD?
Ive had my 03 silverado crew cab for 2 years now and havent had a single problem and I towed as much as 13000 pounds before without issue.(not counting the weight of the load on the truck or the weight of the trailer) other than the factory hitch buckled in half. but that was my fault when the lift gate on my truck was installed the shop left out the last two bolts and it buckled but the truck pulled that load with no problems and I am usually towing something on a regular basis and this isnt counting the weight that was on the truck or the 2500lbs my trailer weighs my truck has a gas 6.0 engine and I have no complaints what so ever
one of my best trucks for sure.

and I still get around 15mpg towing around town on the highway the mileage ON FLAT GROUND usually goes up a bit
Ive gotten 500+miles on a single tank of fuel using about 30 gallons

I'm good with the GMC 2500 with the 6.0 - it is one of the models I've been looking for. I have decided to stick with a gas engine. Unfortunately I'm not at all impressed with the 5.4L in the Ford and while I'll take a well maintained V10 - I'm not finding anything worth while within 200 miles of me. The problem I'm finding with all these trucks (Ford, Dodge and GMC) is there is so many junky, rusted, beat to crap used ones out there. $10,000 price tags on trucks with 200,000+ miles.

I like the gmc but thats where alot of your price tag is coming in even at that kind of mileage
I got really lucky and found my truck a couple hours away nut it was practically new it only had 36k miles on it and was only $17777 (I know sounds like the dodge commercial on the radio) but after they paid $1500 to pay off my suburban and spent $200+ for 2 tanks of chevron premium gas (premium just because theyre paying for it) I got it for right around $15k out the door

maybe it would be worth buying a truck in another state and taking a trip to go get it or have it transported to you.
I hear of people buying cars from the places way out like Mississippi and flying out to go pick them up or having them transported to california to save a ton of $$
