Made it out to the track last night, good to be alive again. I'm right where I want to be with this car. 91 Pump gassed with the 14 inch wide slicks the tires will last along time. Don't need to heat them up. Just need to line up some body panels and replace the rear glass. Running 4.30 gears and shifting it at 6000 rpm it doesn't pressure the motor. This time slip is foot brake leaving from an idle.
Thanks, a lot of work went into this car and I'm having fun with it. Great little bracket racer. Garage to the trailer and track, then back to the garage. Not a lot of work in between. Gas and go.
I moved out of S. Cal. in 1990. The Irwindale raceway I used to "hear" from West Covina as a youngster got ripped out and eventually turned into a brewery. I had to look up the "new" track.....I had no idea it even existed! Very nice time slip. That thing is fast.
It's a 1/8 mile track that was an after thought when the built the 1/2 mile Oval track. The strip is stuffed in the corner of the parking lot and it draws 10 times what the stock car track draws.
Good deal! And that's the idea...just go out and have fun with the car...leave working on it at the shop, and not the track
This is no kidding, I literally park this car in my garage and the next day put it up on jack stands, roll under it to check things and remove the hood. The day before I take it out I drop it down check fluids and air pressure. Gas and Go. must have more than 600 passes on this motor.
Just a beater when you get in the lane next to Aldrich's Maverick. Even with the rear quarter body damage it's a Maverick to see race. 4.88 @ 149 and when you walk up to it seeing the 8.5 tires.... well IMPRESSIVE.
