    1972 Maverick 2 door.Original V-8 3 spd std shift.Also a 72 one owner Sprint sporting a 351 Windsor
    Main reason Mavericks didn't get a 4 speed or a 4 bbl carb on north American continent: Ford did not want it to compete with the mustang for sales...:yup:

    Yeah that's probably it... US built '74 Mustang didn't have a V8 option but they did have 4-speed., Mustang purists screamed bloody murder... If not for oil embargo in late '73, those would have flopped badly... Instead the '74 closed out model year with the 4th highest production, only '65, '66 & '67 sold more... With V8 option in '75 sales were almost 200,000 less than '74(but it did have a 4-speed)...

    1974 Mustangs built in Mexico did have the V8 option, but those were intended for south of the border markets only(not US smog compliant)... Was a article in Hot Rod showing one of the Mexican v8 Stangs and production changes that were necessary to install the 302... Biggest changes were moving the radiator support forward, scalloping out header panel and extending hood to meet redesigned panel... Yep I've owned a couple of them, changes to later models are obovous...
