As the title states, I can only open the driver side door using the interior handle. The button on the exterior of the door isn’t working. I’m assuming I need to take the door panel off to access the guts of the door to fix it - but does anyone here know what I should be looking for in particular? Or the name of the specific part I should be ordering to replace if there is some sort of broken linkage? Pics would help if available. Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
Yes, the door panel will need to be removed to see what is going on. Remove armrest and window crank. Carefully pry around the perimeter of the panel to pull the door panel retaining clips out of the door. Work slowly and not heavy handed, so as not to rip the clips out of the door panel. Anyway, there is an actuating rod between the inside of the door handle and the door latch. The clip that holds that into the door handle mechanism is probably missing or broken, allowing the rod to fall out. This has happened to me. Pic of clip enclosed.

Twice over the years a clip just popped out on mine. Just had to push it back into the handle.

Do notice that part # that Donny posted begins with C5 which means 1965 so I would bet the Mustang and Falcon use the same clip.
