Anyone know if you can still buy new Master Clyinders from Ford? I bought a rebuilt one from my parts store today, what a P.O.S.!!! Looks like it was pulled from a swamp before it was rebuilt. I may have to call Auto Krafters...

I would suggest you take it back and exchange it. When I buy parts from the auto parts store....I make them pull out 3 or 4 so I can see which one "looks" the best.

I got a master cylinder at Advance Auto.....looked great.

Not a big fan of rebuilt brake parts. NAPA sells new ones..a bit more money though. I don't buy cheap brake parts if I can avoid it...

The new master cylinder I put on our '72 daily driver (from Auto Zone) looks entirely diffrent then the original master cylinder did. It has been working great for 4,500 miles though.

ive got a new napa one in mine. it was pretty cheap if i remember correctly plus i got my uncle's employee discount on top. i really have alot of faith in nappa products regaurdless. for something that improtant i probably wouldnt trust most of the other chains. im aslo running their calipers in the front and all my replacment rubber hoses too.

what do you mean pulled from a swamp? im invisioning it covered with rust lol

It's the one I returned about 8 mnths ago!! LOL!!
The new ones I looked at at AZ looked rebuilt to me...the three they ordered , on different weeks. Napa came through... on the second round. The first one was the swamped one.
What I cant find is the dang rear hose...:(

I can get new ones at a local mom-n-pop auto parts house. One of my sons is the manager and he won't let me buy reman brake parts. I used to rebuild master cylinders - if you have the right tools and know how to use them you can get a good part when you are done. If you don't then you end up with junk.

I got the rear brake hose from Auto Zone two years ago. It was special order and took them like a week to get it in. It has been working fine for the past 35,000 miles.

I ordered a new master cylinder from Napa today, they also have a listing on the rear hose, but are out of stock. That'll be my next big search.
