Water pump

    I have a gasket for the outside of the water pump but not one for the inside!

    Do I need a gasket or just sealant between the plate and water pump?

    1972 Maverick 2 door.Original V-8 3 spd std shift.Also a 72 one owner Sprint sporting a 351 Windsor
    There is a gasket that goes between the plate and pump housing.Dont think RTV would do it all by itself.

    Be sure to use a thread sealer on the long bolts that pass through the water jacket when it comes time to reinstall the water pump.

    Wow, isn't that back plate suppose to be bolted to the water pump with separate bolts? I've never seen one apart like that?
