Which is better to glue the trunk gasket on with: 3M yellow or 3M black weatherstrip adhesive? Or are they the same, just different colors? Car is yellow, gasket is black, so any runout won't make a lot of difference. Just want it to hold for 40 years like the original!

I used the black glue on my Falcon. It's been holding up for 23 years now. I think it will outlast the weatherstripping. Just follow the instructions.

The factory used yellow, but black looks better. Just remember, the glues 40 years ago, would kill you, now days they can't use the same stuff.

Black and yellow 3M trim adhesives are the same stuff. Black is better appearance wise...Thats all.

Lets see 40 years ago I had 3 years of my 37 at Fords as a pipefitter and I don't think the glues were bad but I know the asbestos has a hold on me. Oh well live and learn.
