Has anyone ever had problems installing one of these in their cars? this is my first and probably last..everything possible has went wrong, its almost there though after one full day of fighting it..just gotta figure out why now that i mounted it i cant shift. i guess i could just try the tech line. also if you've installed one how long did it take you?
the biggest fight for me right now is if my cable is looped enough...plus mounting it inside didn't go as amazing as planned..so right now it's the cable that i think might be the issue why i cant change gears?
pull the cable off of the shifter mechanism and run threw the gears. then pull on the cable with your hands, it should slide very easy. almost no effort at all. then you will know if the cable is kinked or snagged.
Perfect. ill give that a try in the morning just one last question though where you mounted your shifter. was it farther back then the stock one? or same place?
my car was a column shift so i just got it as close to the seat as i could with the shifter pulled all the way back, and bolted it down. my bet is that it is farther back but it is just a guess.
At first mine was binding at the front. I attempted to use an existing hole to bolt it down.. I ended up having to grind the front of the hole in the hump. That was very hard cause it is thick in that area I guess.. If the cable is kinked at all you will have problems. Also, keep it away from the exhaust. I had to replace the cable since it burned so at that time I moved the shifter where I wanted it and welded it down. Much easier than drilling and nuts and bolts.. I slaped the first one in in about an hour also. Then it stoped working a little later cause it was kinked. The third time took about two hours because I became a perfectionist
