I, along with other Maverick Comet Club International, Inc. (MCCI) members have been working with Auto Krafters over the years in getting more parts available and reproduced for the Ford Maverick. We are pleased to announce the following:

Maverick Gas Tank and Tank Straps
Auto Krafters now offers the 19 gallon reproduction gas tank and the straps needed to hold it up under the car.
Tank part number is D7DZ-9002C for $159.95

Gas Tank straps part number ST99 for $39.95.

Auto Krafters also offers fuel sending units for 1970 Mavericks and 1971-1974 Maverick/Comets. None of these will work with the above tank correctly. I have supplied them with the correct fuel sender for the 19 gallon tank and they write, “We are in the process of getting the sender you sent reproduced. It is in the very early stages, so that may take a while.” So soon one will be able to replace their entire fuel tank system with all new reproduction parts!!

    Maverick/Comet 4-door Rear Glass Weather-strip

I know over the years that many 4-door people have needed the back glass weather-strip. I even recall one member running an ad in the “Shorthorns” newsletter looking for one. I acquired a 4 door parts car and in the process of stripping the car, I realized it had a mint condition back glass weather-strip. I was able to remove the back glass and weather-strip…all intact!! I thought about selling the weather-strip, but instead I contacted Auto Krafters to see about getting this part reproduced. Here is what has happened:

“Thanks to Craig Selvey providing us with a great pattern, we have had the back glass weatherstrip for the 70-77 Maverick 4 door and 71-77 Comet 4 door reproduced. Our part number is D1DZ-5442084 and the cost is $79.95. We have a few in stock now and they will be readily available in the future. This is a quality reproduction made in the U.S.A. by a manufacturer with a spotless reputation. Hope you will alert your members and keep in mind that Auto Krafters can team up with you and/or your members in the future to continue to bring you quality reproductions that are in demand. Auto Krafters wants to do everything possible to continue giving you the quality parts that you need.”

All of these parts should be available on the Auto Krafters website in 10 days:

    www.autokrafters.com

I and other MCCI members continue to work with Auto Krafters in order to get more parts reproduced and I can tell you more reproduction parts are in the works….just stay tuned.

I honestly doubt they could ever sell enough to justify getting them made....plus it would be pretty easy to get them for a two door and cut them down to fit a 4-door. Can't do that with the rear glass weatherstrip:

    1. It would leak

    2. Plus...can't do it because the 4-door rear glass is BIGGER than the two door rear glass.

Yes, they already have a full weatherstrip kit available for the 2-door's now they need to make one for the 4-door's.

It can only get better from here. At least these cars are gaining popularity and more parts are becoming more avaliable.

    That's great!

If something isn't reproduced, why not post a message about it? We all have spare parts laying around. Maybe more parts could be sent to AK as samples for repop.

Craig, will this tank fit only the 74 and later or will it fit all years?

It should fit all years 71 and up with the straps, but the valance may have to be pulled out considerable to clear the 19 gallon tank.
