Looking for ideas. I had trouble getting my windshield in, called a buddy that does windshields. We has trouble with it trying to roll the gasket inside, after fighting it, there is a small gap where the gasket will not fit snug against the windshield at the bottom. I have a theory, mine is a 71, I bought the gasket years ago, and I just bought the new windshield, and I think it's thinner. Could that be why it's not fitting right?

I recently read that there are two different thickneses sss s.. of glass based on a certain year(s). I have not heard of any different gaskets though.

Yep, it's seated, or so it seems.

Get some butyl and shoot it in the gap at the bottom.

It is sitting on the stands, but the gasket seems to be dropping below it. It has gotten worse as the day went on. I taped it up, since we were supposed to have storms. I'll peel the tape off and shoot a picture tomorrow. It doesn't take much to peel the gasket forward and see the bottom of the windshield. I've had the gasket about 10 years, but it was still I the package and soft.

Does anyone happen to have a picture of these stands? I removed my windshields recently and do not remember seeing any stands.I will remove, install, and properly seal them soon so this would help out.

Here's how mine sits. On the corners it sits snug and tight but towards the center of the bottom side the seal doesn't sit right. It seems like the gasket gets tucked under the glass.(Not sure if that makes sense)

The previous owner just roped the windshield in and never sealed it. If I use butyl caulk will that take care of it?

Something went wrong. I would remove the windshield and try again

You need sealant around the outside as well as some between the glass and rubber seal. If not....it WILL leak.

I had to put extra's of the spacers/stands on my 4-door when I did the glass in order to push the rubber seal up and hold it in place along the bottom of the windshield.

We removed and tried it twice and ended with the same results. The second time I used a 2x4 trough the inside of the car to put pressure on the center of the seal as my teacher was roping it in, and as soon as I took out the 2x4 the gasket tucked itself under again.

When I bought butyl tape for the bottom side of the rear windshield it came with 4 little stands. Are these the type that you used?

The ones the factory used are metal....but I suppose those might work.
