Got a call Monday from a guy casting cars for a movie being shot in downtown Atlanta. The setting is supposedly in Rio De Janeiro and it is for the new movie " The Fast and Furious 5 ". They were looking for a Maverick to be in the shoot since Mavericks are considered Muscle Cars in Brazil. I emailed a few photos and they called me later in the day and said they would like to use my car in the scene. Turns out the scene is a makeshift nightime car show that includes a bunch of serious cars - Lambourginis, NSX, Porshe Turbos and lots of hot Tuner type cars. They will be shooting for the next 3 nights - it's under a bridge/viaduct near the Georgia Dome. I'm hoping that the Maverick gets in a few frames of the Movie.

Good luck! That would be so amazing if they do use it...

Check it out - they took off all the Georgia Tags and put on Rio De Janeiro plates. Keeping my fingers crossed that it makes it in the final footage.

There's a cool 71? Maverick that is to be driven by one of the stars in the movie. It's a dark flat purple color with primer showing thru - has a badass stance with Shebly 17" wheels and big brakes . I did'nt see under the hood but I did notice that it had a Puerto Rico Tag on the back.

They are shooting for the next 2 nites. I'll take some more photos and post.

They should edit your side marker lights out for the film so your car really looks like a Maverick from Brazil :thumbs2:

Good point, but I don't think there is anyone there that would know the difference between the US and Brazillian models. .

Looks like the primary feature cars are old and new Dodge Chargers. There are a couple of hopped up vintage Chargers that are in black primer - these are studio cars. I overheard someone say that Vin Diesel drives one of them in the movie.
There's another old Charger that a Georgia guy brought that is lime green/black and has a huge blown hemi - according to him it makes 2000 horsepower !

Two 1973 LDO Mavericks (one 4 Drag one 4 driving like Mad on the roads :) ) also have a 75 6cyl Stock! Ok, well sort of Stock :P
the original plan was that the maverick was supposed to one of the main cars in the movie driven by one of the main characters. Thus they beat the hell out of them and build more then one car. these are background cars er... extras as i would call them. still a good thing though.

Have you guys considered that diecasts were produced from the cars in all the other films. Wouldn't it be cool if the made a 1/25th of his car?

There are approx. 50 cars that are part of a night time car show gathering in this scene. I'll be lucky if mine even gets on camera, but at least there's a chance.

Thanks for the props Jim - hope all is going good for you. TH
