vin# codes

    does anyone know where i could find out what my comet was equipped with, or if anyone knows i've been meaning to find out and now that i'm trying to fill out my mcci application i really need to find out.

    my vin # 2k31t508031

    all i know was it was an original 6 and a stick.

    2 is your maodel year.....i.e. 1972
    K is your assembly plant...... Kansas City
    31 would be your body type, i.e. four door, sedan, grabber not sure on this one what it is....sure thats not a 91 instead of a 31?
    t is your engine size 6 cyl 200-1v

    and the number 508031 is your consecutive unit number that it came off the line.......

    if you want to know what options your car had we need the codes off you body buck tag in the engine compartment....i think on the 72 model it is on a metal tag on your core support....

    thanks for the link, my car was an original 200 6 1bbl with a humungous 91 hp.. 3 spd and 2.79:1 rear, i think i still have the original gears..... just think when my engine is done it will have over more hp... cool. again thanks for the help..

    Nm on the 31 i see it was the standard or gt comet.....

    john... if you REALLY want to see some cool info on your car, look under the drivers side of your front seat. between the springs and the foam rubber. you should find the build sheet for your car. it was taped to it as it went down the assembly line. remove it very carefully as it will be very brittle. i had mine laminated.
