I was reading the post about the purple Mavericks and someone mentioned the "Statutory Grape" color, so I plugged it into google to see what I could find about it. A article from Time Magazine, dated March 21, 1969, popped up. It may have already been discussed at some point, but the search isn't working at the moment. I learned a few interesting facts about the Mavs to add to the collection of random facts and figures I have rattling through my brain. Anyway, here is the link: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,839924-1,00.html Enjoy! -Corbin
Yeah, I was amazed it came up. I wonder if there were pictures or anything in the original layout of the article.
i tried looking on ebay just now and could only find cover shots. most were BIN for between 7-10 bucks if anyone wants one
i red the three also then followed up on it with wikipedia and now i'm stuck with a question. said police package for maverick. need more info. the gears in my head are turning on this and i've already developed a paint scheme in me head too
found my answer. the magical police package maverick was a four door with black and white paint. 250 motor. nothin special about it really
I saw something about the cop mav package in a magazine my uncle had. I'll have to ask if he still has it. If i remember correct, it didn't go over too well.
Nice find. Read the whole thing. Interesting. That last quote about detroit entering volkswagons market, isn't (wasn't) america Ford's market to start with? just my opinion.
only 400 cop cars made. cars didn't survive. perhaps they should have beefed up the front end and used a cobra jet.
