I was reading in your forums about Blakleys Chroming in Ohio. I have 2 more true stories to add. In March of 2006 My brother and myself took our parts for our Pontiac GTO's down to Dayton to be re-chromed. Larry the owner seemed to be a real nice and honest guy. Well after 14 months and many lies later we have all but 4 items back. The work is pretty good but in the process he warped my console top for my GTO and lost my brothers. He made good on the money he owed us but the lies are to much for me to take. My brother drove from Michigan to Dayton (5 hours 1 way) to pick up our parts. After getting back my parts were all there but my brothers parts which were wrapped up with his name on them were actually for a Ford. Come to find out his parts weren't even done yet. I just would like to warn anyone from dropping off parts there. Larry is a nice guy but he wouldn't know the truth if it was starring him in the face.

Did you join our forum just to post that? You must really be pi$$ed. Thanks for the warning, and hope your future dealings are more productive.

And since you joined our forum, you better at least post a picture of your car, even if it is a GTO, which isn't a cheby, but darned close:D

I had both my bumpers and many other parts chromed by them and have not had any problems. Price was very resonable and the quality was very good. Sorry you had some many problems.

Sometimes you get what you pay for. I'm wondering if you were happy with the way they left the back of your bumpers I wasn't ? It's bad when his secretary calls you back and tells you that the boss wants her to lie to you when you call about your parts. See I think some of the problem there was when my brother made the first trip back down there to pickup what we thought was all our parts and we paid for them. After that things got real strange with lies flying left and right. Also my stainless was re-chromed instead of being polished. When I asked they told me they don't do a good job on polishing so they chromed them. These are just the problems I had with them. I'm not saying don't use them just use your own judgement.

For your info we are rookies to all this restoring stuff. I usally trust a person until he proves himself the other way. I did fiind out later on down the road that Larry dosen't do the chroming. Since then I have learned a few things . I have checked with 2 of the shops up here and bumpers never leave the shop with rust on the backs of them. Like I said before you get what you pay for. I do find it bad when two of the bosses employes Ronnie and the secertary both tell the same story . Larry stretches the truth. Good luck to all that use them but in the future I chose to pay alittle more and get what I paid for.

Well I do not know about anybody else that he has done work for but I feel I DID get what I paid for and it was a very good job. The back of my bumpers looked very good as well.

Well I see both side to this. You should have checked everything before you left rookie or not. However if a mistake was made he should have been honest. I know Lonnie(blown76) and based on his Opinion I would shop there.

Some advice When you drop off parts make a list of all parts and take pics. have the owner/company rep sign an agreement they recieved the parts. I started doing this after a few bad deals. So far it has worked for me on a local level. I also tell them I expect a discount if time over runs by more than 7-10 days. I explain what I want. I use words like perfect.
