Guys I'm pulling the engine out of my Maverick and I've got to the point of removing all the linkage. It's a 200-6 so I have a lot of room around everything but I can't figure out this linkage crap. I unbolted the bracket from the trans so thats free but all the other connections look different. The little clip on the down shift linkage looks like it will be fun to get back on , but how do I get all this other stuff out of my way? Also what is the best way to unhook the trans, the 2 mounting bolts or take the crossmember with it ? Thanks Rick

Jack the car up so the lowest point is at least 12 inches. Pull the nuts off the converter. Remove the starter. disconnect the exhaust if it will interfere with the transmission on the way out or back in. Disconnect the kick-down at the transmission. Remove the shifter linkage at the transmission. If yours is equipped with the transmission lock-out disconnect it at the transmission. Remove the U-bolts at the rear u-joint. Drain the transmission. Remove the driveline and place a rear seal plug into the back of the transmission. remove the two bolts to the transmission mount. remove the nuts from the crossmember bolts. Remove all but two of the bolts that hold the bell housing to the engine. Put your transmission jack under the transmission and adjust it for the level of the C4. remove the last two bellhousing bolts. Take the weight on the jack. remove the crossmember bolts and remove it. Slide the C4 back - while making sure the converter is pushed back into the transmission. Once you are clear drop it down as far as you can. slide out the transmission - clean up the mess.

Sorry guys I guess I didn't explain it good. I'm pulling the engine and trans together, thats why I asked about the mount bolts or the crossmember bolts. Heres a pic to show the shift arms I'm talking about. I got my manual out and it looks like they should pull apart but that you have to use new gromets when you reinstall them . If this is right where would you get new gromets, I don't see them in NPD or Autocrafters Maybe its just stuff that I should try to work around ?

Unbolt the linkage from the tranny. There is a bracket on the bellhousing, unbolt that. Then the arm that goes back to the transmission shifter arm, unbolt that. This will leave all the linkage on the car as you pull out the engine/trans. Also, remove the tranny crossmember from the car and the tranny when you pull it.

The grommets can still be bought at the Ford dealer, they come in 4 sizes. I posted some part numbers a few years ago.
