I just noticed some black goo coming out from my Duraspark II module. Does this mean it's going to go, or is it just something that happens with age on these? The car is running fine!
In my experience, electronic stuff seems to work good until you "Let the smoke out" The black stuff might just be some sealant from around the plug. But with a duraspark module its never a bad idea to carry a spare in the trunk, just in case.
Any goo coming from the module is a sign of it starting to fail get one and carry it in the trunk till the one on it fails completely
X2, the power transistor overheats and melts the potting material, that's the goo. I'm with Ryan, get one and carry it in the trunk.
I suggest replace it now instead changing it when it’s raining cats and dogs on the side of the road in the dark.
Thanks guys! I do have another one so it will be changed immediately! That's just one of those things that says " this just aint right "!
