My simple question is can you change the dash the whole thing not just the top pad? Would it be worth it? Can what could you out back in its place? We have all seen the Maverick with the J2Z motor swap they have a custom dash I'm talking something in the world of that.

you can put anything you want it all depends on your fabrication skills
I saw a maverick just yesterday with a suburban cluster and steering column and it looked like it came that way

Couldn't disagree more. Yes, some do no justice but there are those that are tastefully executed and work well with the car. There are two cars on this site that are great examples of customized Maverick dashes.

unless you have a stock car, a buggy, a dune/race truck, or a some type of race car that hardly resembles a production car, they look silly and worse than what it originally came with. no benefit in my opinion.

Again, I disagree but I guess it also depends on your definition of custom. These are an example of custom dashes that look right and do not take away from the car.

After reading your post, I imagine you are thinking along these lines and if so I completely agree, use it in a race car only.

yea 2 different things. the first dash is really nice. takes a cue from the mercury cylone so it would be perfect for a comet. the last one is really along the lines of what i was referring to.

it only had a speedo and a gas gauge and it would have been difficult to fit around the cage. it was also heavier than the new one that is aluminum.

Now that fits the car, cage, racing seats etc, In your car the aluminum dash is spot on.

I think these 2 dashes look the best just because the added gauges look like they belong there and not just nailed in place :thumbs2:
