I bought an autometer gauge and was wondering what options I have to hook it up to my short speedo cable. The way my dash sits it just won't reach.
Is it a mechanical? I thought most of them were electric... EDIT: Nevermind, I see they have a bunch of mechanical ones. Do they sell an extension? Or can you rob a little bit of cable from underneath?
Speedcal is an option if going from a cable to electric gauge. I think thats whats used on sn-95 mustangs when a gear change is completed to keep from opening up the transmission to change one of the gears for higher ratio gears. I have no experience with it yet though, just did some research not to long ago on it. My speedo says I am doing 90 in reality only 65ish LOL and mileage on odometer really racks up quick this way.
full size Ford or truck? Just a thought,,, how much length do you need? Also, if you get the cruise control cables off 70`s car that may help
totally free fix. go under your car, follow the cable from the transmission up to the firewall, you will see where it is clipped to the metal of the car. pull the clip off (unbolt) and tada, you have 2 more inches! just make sure nothing is kinked anywhere, and you should be good to go. i did it. works great!
ha so funny story, i was looking at your last picture on this thread and i saw the bikes hanging on the wall but i first thought you has made some kind of cool half gauges on the top of your dash. i thought it was kinda neat. but, ya, bikes are good too.
