Has anybody had this problem before. The cars starts up fine. Idles fine in park and neutral. But when it is put it in drive the idle drops down so much it stalls. And after i get the car rolling for a while then slown down to a stop light the engine speed will drop down and die out. Any advice on where to begin troubleshooting would be appreciated. Engine is a 302 with a Holley 650 double pumper. For GT40 aluminum heads and Edelbrock RPM intake. Thanks!!
On an automatic you are supposed to check the IDLE speed while in DRIVE with foot on brake. Either idle is too low or you have a vacuum leak.
Thanks, I forgot to metion it was a C4. I will check the idle like you mentioned. Just to be sure, is that the curb ide speed screw. I have a fast idle speed screw on my carb as well.
Did this about 2 weeks ago. Adjust your idle mixture screws more rich. These are the little screws on the right and left side of the metering block on your carb, screw them both OUT about 1/4 turn, then maybe another 1/4 if that doesn't fix it. Sorry if I am talking down to you, since I am not sure what level you are technically...
