OK just got my Mav. out of the shop with new, high volume oil pump, distrib. shaft & double roller timing gears. Took it for a drive yesterday was working perfect and then @ 70 mph she dies back fires and I coast to the curb. Start it & it dies, then it starts drives about 1/4 mile dies again, then I let it cool down it starts runs about a mile dies again. 1st. thing I think is electronic ign. box so I have another & I put it on No way no start so I put the old one back on it starts right up. I ran it for about a hour last nite it ran like a top would'nt die again. It has new rebuild dist. cap, rotor, wires, plugs. I'm wondering ign. box or coil? Any other things I should be checking? I have Dura Spart ing. on it and will buy a new box if I could get it to JUST keep doing what it was and know that is it! Any Advice would help loads. Thanks Guys!!!!!
I had the same problem...after throwing over $100 in parts in my ignition system I replaced the starter solenoid and it cured the problem. Keep us posted on what you find
