So i keep reading that 4 bolts go into the water pump jacket, but when I had removed those 4 bolts, I saw no evidence of water, and when I stuck a paper clip in each of the holes, it bottoms out.
So I installed it without thread sealer. Now I had to pull it again, but I ran it for a a good period of time before and it never seeped out the bolts. I just want to make triple sure before I add coolant.

coolant can seep into the holes of the timing over from the water pump. i usually put anti seize on the shank section of the bolts and thread sealer on threaded portion. i dont remember if the bolt holes are blind or not but have had plenty of these bolts seized in the cover and even brake that i wont even chance the bolt seizing into the cover.

Use the common Teflon thread sealer paste on the four long bolts, antiseize on the others.

That's good advice to anti-sieze the shanks on the wp bolts that go through the cover. :thumbs2:
