I'm in process to get all the parts to do the taurus fan swap in my mav. I'm trying to keep all the parts so I can get them from the local parts stores so if they go out on me I can replace them quicker. What alt are you guys running? Looking for 100-140amp single wire. Thanks for the help
I used a powermaster 140amp one wire from summit.. I couldn't find a high amp alternator at the local parts store...
fits perfect, looks just like my 65amp... Of coarse you delete the old harness and voltage regulator and hook up the included wire to the positive battery post or the battery side of your starter cylenoid...
Yea, inquiring minds want to know. I'm thinkin about this with mine. My volt meter registers less than 12 volts hooked up to the fuse box.
alright heres what i'm probably going to do and is exactly what i was looking for. been talking to Earl on here and he uses the 95amp from the part number he gave me i checked it out at advance today every store in my area has one in stock so that good for ease of replacement at its a drop in fit and 3G. under $180 here are the advance part numbers P7758-2-6g 95 amp P7761-2-6g 130 amp they come in 1992-1996 E-150/250/350 1995-1996 f-150/250/350 with 4.9 inline 6, I have not been able to track down a new wiring harness for it but im sure they are out there somewhere.
I think the connector and pigtail you can use is the Standard Motor Products S545 (but double check to make sure).
I found it on rock auto- Airtex Part # 1P1113 so looks like I have all the parts numbers I need to order everything for my Taurus fan upgrade. does anyone know how to wire up the 3G alt??
With single wire AM unit why do u need a harness? I been using one for 3.5 years, one wire to the batt side of solenoid @130amps and volt meter stays just below 14v. all the time engine is running.
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/pwm-8-57141/overview/make/ford This is the one I used... It bolts in the stock location, includes a new feed wire....
