Does anyone have the manual disc-brakes? I found a Granada with them in a junkyard yesterday, minus the rotors. I really don't want the huge booster under my hood, so thats why I haven't gone with the power disc's yet. My car has manual drums now. any suggestions?
yes.. the manual disc brakes work great on our cars.. it will give you all sorts of stopping power.. just get the proportioning valve and the dist block along with all the brake hardware you can also do a search in the forum for a how to do it i believe
Manual disc are much better than drums, however I never noticed a whole lot of difference in the amount of pedal pressure it takes to stop the car. The power assist is what gives you the easiest feel. I would definitely convert to the disc, just dont be surprised if it really dont feel any different effort wise.
Sorry to interrupt, does the Granada booster fit in my 70 Maverick? >About your case, I'm with the above post, you might not feel a significant improvement with manual discs. IMO, there's a master cylinder bore & caliper piston diameter &/or volume combination, to make a manual brake set up work at its best.
The biggest caliper piston and smallest master piston is the best combo. You'll have a lot of pedal travel on that though.
