I have a 73' Comet GT that has the larger front bumper, can i change it to the smaller front bumber? And how would i go about doing that?
Basically the early years have front fenders with notches cut in them where the bumper wraps the body. Plus they have unique brackets and filler panel. Being that you have a 73 instead of the usual 74-77 big bumper cars I would suspect that you would have less to deal with since you already have the lower front apron. Sorry that I am not a ton of help, but if you search the site you'll a lot of bumper swap threads. Rocco
73's have a medium front bumper not large like the 74-77 Mavericks, Comets. It looks just as good or better than the 70-72 Bumpers. So in my opinion you should leave it alone.
Bumper mounts for '73 are totally different than the '72 and earlier. Front lower valence is different as well. You would need a unique and hard to find front bumper for a Comet(71 or 72) and all mounting hardware. Fenders would need to be notched to be correct. *'73 and up there were shared front bumpers for Comets and Mavs-with '73 being a 1 year deal. '71 and '72 have a Comet only front bumper.
